About
Me
My AP Art portfolio follows the ideas, themes, and symbolism surrounding Christian iconography and spiritual experiences as they relate to womanhood. Generally, each of my pieces revolves around a singular element of Christian tradition; a biblical figure, story, ritual, or belief. Once I have determined the facet of religiosity that I want to explore, I consider how this aspect is present in women’s daily lives. I take inspiration from my own experiences as well as conversations and moments that I have shared with other women in my community, including friends, sisters, teachers, and religious leaders. Although my art draws from perhaps antiquated themes, I like to consider how modernity and a modern definition of womanhood have nuanced spiritual experiences. Ultimately, I hope that my portfolio encourages viewers to consider where spirituality permeates daily life and celebrate the women who emulate it.
